This mat is woven of hard-wearing natural coir (coconut husk). The natural coir bristles trap soil and moisture before they can cross your threshold. Durable and long lasting, it promises kind treatment all your visitors.
Coir is extracted from the outer cover (husk) of a coconut. The separated husks are kept under water in local lagoons for eight to ten months for retting. The retted husks are beaten by hand with wooden mallets and the golden ccoir fiber is extracted. The coir fiber is then spun into yarn on traditionalal spinning wheels. This yarn is then used to make these mats. Coir mats are Eco-friendly and a Non-Pollutant product.
Shedding is normal during the first month of use. During this period simply brush or shake the mat for best appearance.
After the useful life of the product it may be planted in your garden as it is high in mineral content and makes a great fertilizer.
